gateway communities rising
The Colorado Momentum Initiative is a network of outdoor recreation, business, tourism, agriculture, community development, conservation and cultural interests, and land managers, tackling challenges at the intersection of promoting growth, protecting resources, diversifying economies, and preserving the character of our state's gateway communities.
Visitors and new residents are flocking to Colorado, drawn by our state's natural assets, access to outdoor experiences, and our unique brand of Western culture. Growth in recreation and tourism presents huge economic opportunities for the towns that serve as gateways to Colorado's national parks and monuments, state parks, forests, rivers, and other destinations, but it also presents sizable challenges, like, how to preserve traditional, rural economies and ways of life?
Regional Momentum initiatives provide opportunities to coordinate across local jurisdictions in the same vicinity, and identify priorities to help gateways serve visitors, steward resources, and advance other community objectives. Through the statewide Momentum Network, participants share best practices and identify areas for collaboration on policy, promotional, and funding efforts.
Anyone who lives in or works with one of Colorado's gateway communities has something meaningful to contribute. Join us!
